HOW TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
Written by Miss Samantha Elizabeth
How to increase productivity in your daily routine is by no means impossible. However, you may have to make some time in some cases in order to save time in the long run.
WAYS TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
TIME BLOCKING
Time blocking your day into set increments of time to accomplish a task is a popular method that I stand behind 100%. Depending on the tasks I either block out 30 or 45-minute intervals on my calendar to get a task done.
For something like writing this blog post, I set aside 45 minutes because I usually take a bit of time to write. Once the interval of time is up, I take 5-10 minutes, grab a drink of water, stretch and take a quick breather before jumping back into the next task.
This method subconsciously forces you to complete a task before the allotted time is up, so you are only focused on one thing. Another great way to increase your productivity with this method is to enforce a rule to ignore or turn off all phone and email notifications at this time.
GET OUT OF YOUR INBOX
Being in your inbox consistently is a huge time waster and will not help your productivity goals one bit. Set aside one maybe two times a day to be in your inbox to respond to emails.
Going through your inbox or checking it non stop interrupts other tasks in your daily routine. You get distracted by junk mail and start clicking away on newsletters or flash sales and before you know it you spent $300 dollars on clothes and you haven’t even got anything done off your to-do list.
If you get a lot of emails a day that need responding to right away and simply being in your emails once a day will not cut it. It would be beneficial to hire a Virtual Assistant to manage your inbox while you are off doing more important tasks for your business.
TEMPLATES
Truly one of the easiest ways to increase your productivity in your daily routine is to have templates everywhere you can. Especially email templates if you are constantly sending the same information but to different people.
Whether you’re sending emails about rates, job openings, or product launch. The next time you create an email regarding a repeated question, save it as a template in a Google Docs or Evernote and use it again for next time.
TAKE A BREAK
Now you are probably wondering how taking a break will increase your productivity? By taking short breaks in your daily routine it can help clear your head, stay hydrated and allows you to gain focus when jumping into the next task. It sounds counterproductive but there is much science behind the benefits of taking a break throughout the day.
Not only is taking a break suggested to increase productivity but it is also suggested for your health. It allows you time to stretch, stay hydrated and can allow you to go for a short walk in order to stay active.
If you are a workaholic and rarely take a break, try this productivity method and see if you can knock more off your to do list.
PRE MAKE MEALS
Meal prepping is key when trying to increase productivity in your daily routine, especially if you work from home a lot. When you work from home, you have access to a kitchen and have access to make meals for your lunch that take a bit more time. However, this takes away time you can use for other tasks.
If you are going to make a meal for lunch, make enough to have leftovers for the next 2 or 3 days that can be warmed up easily in the microwave or oven. This way you are not cooking every day, you are simply cooking once and reheating a meal quickly and easily.
