HOW TEMPLATES HELP SCALE YOUR BUSINESS

Written by Miss Samantha Elizabeth

Having templates integrated into your business process can help save you time, keep your messaging consistent and help keep an organized workflow. Templates take some time to set up, however, if you put the time into them, they can be very effective.

There are various types of templates to help you have an organized business process in place such as:

  • Email templates

  • Social media response templates

  • Blog post template

  • Website template for different product pages

  • Workflow templates

  • Social graphics template

  • Bio & elevator pitch template

The list can probably go on from there, but these are the ones I believe are the most important for any business to have in order to scale to the next level.  These are the key templates that if you put the time into creating them, they can help you in so many ways down the road when implemented into your business process.

HOW TEMPLATES IN YOUR BUSINESS PROCESS CAN HELP YOU SCALE

SAVE TIME

Having email templates and even social media response templates will save you loads of time especially if you find yourself responding to the same enquiries time and time again. Why type out the same answer from scratch every other day when you can create it once and save it to Evernote or Google Docs. Then whenever you go to reply to a repeated enquiry, all you have to do it copy and paste.

The next time you get an email or a social media comment asking a question you get often, draft a response and save it as a template, so you can use it again down the road.

If you can save an extra 30 minutes a day that is an extra 3.5 hours a week to focus your time on the more important tasks in your business.

    KEEP IT CONSISTENT

The biggest reason why I think it is so important to have templates in your business process is to keep your messaging and branding consistent. If you take the time to make that social media or email template, you will be in the zone and thinking about your overall brand messaging.

Without templates, it is quite easy to start scrambling to get an email or Instagram post together and get it out as quick as possible. It is not easy in that situation to think of the big picture. Whereas if you carve out the time to create such templates you can focus on getting your brand and message across to your following.

    BIO & ELEVATOR PITCH

These templates you will probably not use often but are SUPER important to have in your business process if you want to ensure you are offering a clear message.

Having a one-off bio blurb and a short elevator pitch template is great to have in your virtual back pocket. Create a short bio blurb that is a few sentences are can be placed at the bottom of a blog post or as a short intro to who you are. Do the same for your businesses elevator pitch, create a few short sentences pitching your business. Save these in Evernote, Google Docs or somewhere that is easily accessible.

By having these templates you can ensure that your messaging and branding stays the same anytime someone asks “Who are you” or “What do you do”?  You can use these template whenever you need to submit things like an article, joining an association or being recognized for a donation/award. No matter where a bio or you or your business is posted you can ensure that anyone who reads it is getting the same message time and time again.

Having a consistent message is key to having people like, know and trust your brand. Once someone likes, knows and trusts you, your business gains a  potential client or customer.

    ORGANIZED WORKFLOW

Having an organized workflow template is essential to have in your business process in order to scale. It also largely ties in with saving you time and creating a consistent brand.

Creating a workflow template can be created in a project management software like Asana or Trello, but it does not have to be. The most important thing to having a workflow template is to ensure for a recurring task, the same method is being followed each time.

For example, if you regularly post on your blog. You want to ensure that the same process is followed in order to save you time and keep the style looking consistent for the reader.

Having a workflow template set up for a blog post can ensure that you are researching a keyword before you go to write, making sure it is proofread before publishing and ensure the same element such as a bio blurb are always added.

While it may take a bit to set up workflow templates, in the long run, it will save you time and stress. A workflow template ensures no steps are missed and the same tasks are done each and every time.
