HOW A PROJECT BOTTLENECKS?

Project bottlenecks in a small business are often due to a lack of a workflow or no plan B in place. If a team member can not easily complete their assigned task because they do not have access to a tool or resource the project will eventually bottleneck and not be completed on time. As well, with no backup plan, if a team member falls sick or something is not done on time due to a third party, it is more likely that the project will bottleneck.

WAYS A PROJECT BOTTLENECKS

There are numerous ways a project bottlenecks in a small business. The most important thing to do to avoid projects bottlenecking is to have an efficient process in place. Take a look below at ways a project bottlenecks, to try and avoid this from happening in your business.

Systematize Your Business With the Right Systems

to allow you to streamline your the back end of your business with ease!

    FILES NOT BEING ACCESSIBLE

This is probably the easiest way to ensure a project does not bottleneck and to ensure you have an efficient process in place in your small business.

Any files that your team will regularly need access to, like your logo or branding information, should be readily available to your team members. Having them wait until you send them documents such as this over and over again will increase the likelihood that a project bottlenecks.

    SOLUTION?

Put any files or branding info that your team will need over and over again in a shareable file on Google Drive. Having an efficient process like this in place will give your team access to the tools and resources they need with no wait time at all!

    LACK OF TRAINING

Giving proper training when onboarding team members is crucial for an efficient process in your business. You want to ensure they know what needs to be done to successfully complete a task, to make sure that no task needs to be redone!

    SOLUTION?

It is much easier to spend an extra 30 minutes training a team member when you first onboard them to your team. Compared to taking an hour or two to go back and fix a bunch of tedious errors because they were not trained properly.

TAKING ON TOO MUCH AT ONCE

Taking on too much at once especially with no workflow in place often results in project bottlenecks. Whether you are excited to get working or you misjudged how much work is involved, taking on too much work can easily be counterproductive.

    SOLUTION?

If you do not already have a workflow in place, this should be your first step to keep your project organized and create an efficient process in your small business. Once you have a workflow in place, that you have tried and tested, you can bring more work into your small business with less risk of a project bottleneck.
